ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Ministry of Foreign Affairs has activated its Crisis Management Unit in Syria to facilitate nationals.
A statement issued by the spokesperson’s office on Saturday said that the decision was taken in view of the ongoing developments and evolving situation in Syria.
It said that Pakistani nationals in Syria, along with their families, are encouraged to contact the CMU at the telephone number: 051-9207887. They may also reach out via email at [email protected].
Meanwhile, the Embassy of Pakistan in Damascus continues to actively assist Pakistani nationals in Syria.

Earlier, the Foreign Office issued advisory to the Pakistani nationals regarding travel to Syria due to the deteriorating situation in the country.
“In view of the recent developments and evolving situation in Syria, Pakistan nationals are advised to avoid unnecessary travel or visit to Syria until the situation improves,” it said.
Those currently in Syria are advised to exercise extreme caution and remain in contact with the Embassy of Pakistan in Damascus. The foreign office has also provided contact details of the Embassy.
The Syrian army on Saturday said it was increasing its deployments around Damascus and in the south, to strengthen its defence lines as panic spread that militates were drawing close.

“Our armed units are reinforcing their lines throughout the Damascus countryside and the southern region,” a spokesperson for the General Command of the Army and Armed Forces said in a televised statement.
Syria’s interior minister told state TV that security forces had imposed an impenetrable cordon around Damascus.
“There is a very strong security and military cordon on the far edges of Damascus and its countryside, and no one… can penetrate this defensive line that we, the armed forces, are building,” Interior Minister Mohammed al-Rahmoun told state TV from Damascus.
