DUBAI: Pakistan’s baseball team secured a spot in the semi-finals of the Baseball United Arab Classic 2024 after a commanding 17-3 victory over Afghanistan in Dubai on Saturday. This was Pakistan’s fourth consecutive win in the tournament.
Pakistani batters dominated the game, with star performances from Zan, Mohammad Hussain, Mohammad Shah, Wahid, and Ammar. Zan, in particular, impressed the crowd by hitting an inside-the-park home run and later following up with a grand slam.
The team’s firm control was complemented by a well-executed double play from Wahid, Zain, and Sameer, setting the tone for Pakistan’s dominance.
Pitchers Hasnain Jan, Syed Ali, and Hasan Imam equally supported the batters limiting Afghanistan’s scoring opportunities and securing Pakistan’s defensive edge. So far, Pakistan’s team remain undefeated in the tournament.
Earlier, Pakistan defeated India, the United Arab Emirates, and Bangladesh in the group stage of the tournament.
With victory against Afghanistan, Pakistan stands at the top of their group, confidently advancing to the semi-finals.
