Pakistan Aims to Boost Defense Ties with Turkiye: PAF Chief

ANKARA: Pakistan Air Force (PAF) Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu attended the Graduation and Flag Detachment Ceremony in Turkiye on Friday.

During the event, Pakistan’s Chief of Air Staff expressed his gratitude to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan for the invitation to the prestigious Graduation and Flag Detachment Ceremony.

Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu attended the prestigious ceremony as the Guest of Honour, held at the Turkish Air Force Academy.

The ceremony was attended by dignitaries such as Minister of State for Defence & Deputy Prime Minister of Qatar, Dr. Khalid Bin Mohammad Al-Attiyah, and Minister of Defence of Azerbaijan, Colonel General Zakir Hasanov, alongside senior military commanders and high-level state officials from around the world.

The Graduation and Flag Detachment Ceremony at the Turkish Air Force Academy marks a significant moment for the graduating cadets as they complete their rigorous training and begin their journey as officers in the Turkish Air Force.

The presence of Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu as the Guest of Honour underscored the strong camaraderie between the two air forces.

The Chief of the Air Staff engaged with various high-level dignitaries, including General Ziya Cemal KADIOGLU, Commander of the Turkish Air Force.

On this occasion, the Pakistan Air Chief emphasized the shared values and aspirations that underpin the deep friendship between Pakistan and Turkiye.

Cooperation in Defense, Fifth-Generation Fighter Aircraft Production

Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu expressed his commitment to enhancing bilateral ties in military cooperation, especially in defense production, technology sharing, and the joint development of fifth-generation fighter aircraft.

He also reiterated his determination to deepen the strong bond of friendship that unites the two nations in the face of shared challenges and explore further avenues of collaboration in the defense and aviation sectors.

This visit is a follow-up to the recent Strategic Framework Agreement on Defense Collaboration and demonstrates the deep historical, religious, cultural, and strategic bonds between the two nations. The collaboration has opened doors for joint ventures, technology transfer, and knowledge sharing between the two countries, fostering growth and innovation in the aerospace industry.

During his trip, Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu also met with General Gabor Böröndi, Chief of General Staff, Hungarian Defence Forces.
