ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Minister of Commerce Dr. Gohar Ejaz, along with a 20-member delegation, held several meetings with Chinese businessmen and exporters in Beijing on Monday. These meetings aimed to strengthen trade relations and address trade imbalances between the two countries.
During the visit, the minister met with Zhang Xinmin, Chairman of the China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Textiles (CCCT), and Luan Richeng, President of the COFCO Group—a prominent player in China’s food processing sector.
The meetings are a crucial part of Pakistan’s strategy to boost non-textile exports, utilizing the COFCO Group’s position as China’s largest food processor, manufacturer, and trader.
The delegation has already facilitated a series of Business-to-Business (B2B) meetings, serving as a platform for Pakistani and Chinese business representatives to engage in discussions aimed at strengthening trade relations.
In these meetings, Gohar Ejaz emphasized the significance of private sector collaboration, especially with Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), as a means to bring prosperity to Pakistan.
The visit follows the successful trip of Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar to China in October, underlining the commitment to further enhance economic ties between Pakistan and China, as mentioned in the press release from the Commerce Ministry.
