KABUL: Pakistan’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Hina Rabbani Khar, on Tuesday held political consultations with Foreign Minister of Interim Afghan Government, Amir Khan Muttaqi, in Kabul.

The two neighboring countries discussed a range of bilateral issues of common interest, including cooperation in education, health, trade and investment, regional connectivity, people-to-people contacts, and socio-economic projects.

Hina Rabbani Khar was leading a Pakistani delegation to Afghanistan for a one-day visit at a time when the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) called off a ceasefire agreed upon with Pakistan in June.

Since the change of government in Afghanistan in April, this was the first visit by a senior official of Pakistan. The visit is seen as significant given the fact that a woman minister heads the delegation.

Hina Rabbani Khar announced that Pakistan would prioritize importing products from the businesses being run by Afghan women in Afghanistan.

Hina Rabbani Khan expressed these views at a luncheon meeting hosted by the Women Chamber of Commerce of Afghanistan in Kabul, the country’s capital city.
