Pakistan and Turkiye Agree to Strengthen Bilateral Cooperation

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Turkiye on Sunday agreed to continue working together to address common challenges and to support each other’s core national interests.

This understanding was reached during a warm and cordial telephone conversation between Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif of Pakistan and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on the occasion of Eid Al-Adha.

In their discussion, Prime Minister Sharif and President Erdogan exchanged heartfelt greetings and best wishes for Eid Al-Adha, celebrating the strong bonds of friendship and brotherhood between their nations. These ties are deeply rooted in shared values, history, and cultural affinities, which have long formed the foundation of their relationship.

The two leaders agreed to continue working together to support each other’s core national interests and to tackle common challenges. They emphasized the importance of further strengthening bilateral cooperation across various sectors, including trade, investment, defense, and tourism. Both leaders expressed a shared determination to explore new avenues of collaboration that would benefit their countries economically and strategically.

The conversation also touched on regional and global issues. Prime Minister Sharif and President Erdogan discussed ways to promote peace, stability, and prosperity within the region and beyond. They expressed serious concern over the ongoing situation in Palestine and urged the international community to intensify efforts to alleviate the suffering of the innocent Palestinians and work towards a peaceful resolution.

The call between Prime Minister Sharif and President Erdogan underscored the enduring and robust relationship between Pakistan and Turkiye. The leaders expressed mutual respect and understanding, highlighting the importance of their continued close cooperation.

Prime Minister Sharif extended a cordial invitation to President Erdogan to visit Pakistan at his earliest convenience. This visit would convene the 7th session of the High Level Strategic Consultative Council, further solidifying the strategic partnership and cooperative spirit between the two nations.
