LAHORE: Pakistan’s former Test captain and renowned cricketer, Inzamam-ul-Haq, has officially taken up his role as the chief selector of the national men’s cricket team, as confirmed by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Monday.

The 53-year-old cricketing legend has assumed his responsibilities within the Cricket Technical Committee (CTC), a significant position in shaping Pakistan’s cricketing future.

Inzamam-ul-Haq has a notable history with cricket administration, having previously served as the chief selector from 2016 to 2019. Under his guidance, the selected team achieved a remarkable feat by clinching the Champions Trophy title in 2017, led by captain Sarfaraz Ahmed.

Inzamam-ul-Haq to Collaborate with Mickey Arthur

In his new capacity, Inzamam-ul-Haq will collaborate with Mickey Arthur, the Pakistan team director, to carefully select the national squads for upcoming cricketing events, including the Afghanistan series, Asia Cup, and World Cup.

The PCB’s Cricket Technical Committee, chaired by Misbah-ul-Haq and featuring former captain Mohammad Hafeez, recommended Inzamam-ul-Haq’s appointment to Zaka Ashraf, the chairman of the PCB Management Committee. The CTC plays a crucial role in advising and making recommendations on various cricket-related matters, encompassing the overall domestic cricket structure, scheduling, playing conditions, appointments of national selection committees and coaches, central and domestic contracts, and plans for umpire, referee, and curator development.

The committee holds the authority to invite additional cricket experts as required and will provide regular reports to the head of the PCB Management Committee. With Inzamam-ul-Haq assuming the role of chief selector once again, the cricketing community anticipates his strategic contributions to shaping Pakistan’s cricketing landscape and fostering the growth of the sport in the nation.
