Pakistan Army Female Peacekeepers Awarded with UN Gender Advocacy Award

ISLAMABAD: Two female officers of the Pakistan Army have been honored with the prestigious Gender Advocacy Award by the UN for their remarkable contributions to advancing women’s participation in peace operations.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Major Sania Safdar and Major Komal Masood, two exemplary Pakistani peacekeepers, received the award from the Under Secretary-General of the Department of Peace Operations at UNHQ, New York.

Major Sania Safdar served in the UN Peacekeeping Mission in Cyprus, while Major Komal Masood served in the Central African Republic. Both officers demonstrated exceptional professionalism and dedication, making significant contributions to peace and stability efforts—particularly in promoting women’s meaningful participation in peacekeeping operations.

They were recognized for their outstanding performance and commitment to promoting UN ideals, and their vital roles in these missions have been acknowledged by the respective Mission Force Commanders.

This recognition underscores Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to the UN Peacekeeping mandate and highlights the professionalism and diligent efforts of Pakistani peacekeepers to create a positive impact in these operations.
