Pakistan Army to Ensure Peace and Stability for Economic Development: COAS

PESHAWAR: Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir on Wednesday visited Peshawar and attended a meeting of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Provincial Apex Committee along with Caretaker Chief Minister, Muhammad Azam Khan in the chair, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a press release.

According to ISPR, during the Apex Committee meeting, the Army Chief was briefed about the overall security situation in the province including initiatives against hoarding, smuggling, and drug trafficking.

The participants of the Apex Committee meeting affirmed that state institutions and people are united for the protection of the life and property of Pakistani citizens. The meeting participants also paid rich tribute to the martyrs and their families, ISPR said.

COAS concluded “We have to synergize our efforts for peace and prosperity of our beloved country. Pakistan Army will continue to play its role in ensuring peace and stability in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to provide a secure environment for economic development”.

COAS Attends ‘KP Women Symposium – 2023’

During his visit to Peshawar, the COAS also held an interactive session with the respectable women of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during the ‘KP Women Symposium – 2023’.

While addressing the participants of the women symposium, the Army Chief said that women have played a positive and crucial role in the progress of the country throughout Pakistan’s history. He said that women’s role in Pakistan’s progress and development is quintessential and most important.

COAS General Syed Asim Munir remarked that the women of KP have continued to face multi-faceted challenges due to the prolonged fight against terrorism, however, they have proven their resilience, commitment, and bravery in the face of all odds. The Army Chief encouraged the women to participate in the progress and development of KP and merged districts.

Earlier upon arrival, the Army Chief was received by Commander Peshawar Corps.
