ISLAMABAD: During the weekly briefing at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Pakistan’s Foreign Office Spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch stressed the need for Afghanistan to take decisive action against individuals responsible for terrorism in Dera Ismail Khan (DI Khan).

Baloch emphasized that Afghanistan should arrest and hand over Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) leaders and other terrorists to Pakistan.

Pakistan expects concrete measures from the Afghan government to combat terrorism and prevent militant organizations from using Afghan soil against Pakistan. The spokesperson expressed gratitude for the international community’s condemnation of the recent terrorist attack in DI Khan, with members of the United Nations Security Council expressing concern and sympathy for Pakistan.

Baloch called for the inclusion of Tehreek Jihad Pakistan in the Security Council’s list alongside Daesh and Tehreek Taliban Pakistan, urging a ban on the organization. Members of the Security Council emphasized the importance of apprehending individuals involved in the DI Khan attack, along with their facilitators, and bringing them to justice. The spokesperson urged all stakeholders to cooperate with Pakistan in this regard.

Caretaker Prime Minister Anwar Haq Kakar’s upcoming visit to Azad Jammu and Kashmir was highlighted as a demonstration of solidarity with Kashmiris. Baloch mentioned that Kakar would express support for Kashmiris in his address to the Legislative Assembly, rejecting the Indian Supreme Court’s decision on the special status of occupied Jammu and Kashmir. The spokesperson emphasized that the Jammu and Kashmir conflict could only be resolved through UN resolutions and the will of the people.

Baloch praised the UN resolution calling for a ceasefire in Gaza, noting the global outrage against Israeli brutality in Palestine. Pakistan urged the international community to play a role in halting Israeli aggression, war crimes, and crimes against humanity. The spokesperson warned that the escalating Israeli conflict could engulf the entire region and called for a peaceful resolution based on OIC resolutions.
