Pakistan Athletics Federation to Send Arshad Nadeem, Family for Umrah

ISLAMABAD: The Athletics Federation of Pakistan (AFP) has announced that it will send Arshad Nadeem, the gold medalist from the Paris Olympics 2024, and his family to perform the Umrah pilgrimage.

After Arshad Nadeem’s record-setting performance at the Paris Olympics, the AFP has decided to honour the athlete with this special gesture.

Maj Gen (R) Muhammad Akram Sahi, Chairman of the South Asian Athletics Federation (SAAF) and Vice President of Asian Athletics revealed that Arshad, along with his wife, children, and parents, will be sent for Umrah once his official engagements and celebrations are complete.

This gesture is intended to acknowledge Arshad’s outstanding achievements and his contributions to sports. Akram Sahi extended his best wishes to Arshad and his family for a blessed journey.

Earlier today, Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif met Olympic gold medallist, Arshad Nadeem, to honour him at his residence in Mian Channu.

The Olympian and his family accorded a warm reception to CM Maryam Nawaz. She embraced the mother of Arshad Nadeem, Razia Parveen and greeted her for the milestone achievement of Nadeem in the Olympic games.

Olympian Arshad Nadeem on the occasion recalled his struggle to win a gold medal in the historic Olympic competition.

CM Punjab awarded a check worth Rs 100 million with the key of a Honda Civic with an exclusive number plate 92.97 symbolizing his achievement by throwing the javelin to the record distance of 92.97 in the Olympics.
