ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Malaysia have reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing bilateral cooperation in trade, economy, banking, food technology, and agriculture.
This collaboration was discussed during a meeting between President Asif Ali Zardari and visiting Malaysian Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim at Aiwan-e-Sadr.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Chairman of the Pakistan People’s Party MNA Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Minister of Commerce Jam Kamal Khan, Senator Sherry Rehman, and senior government officials.
Welcoming the Malaysian Prime Minister, President Zardari emphasized Pakistan’s strong ties with Malaysia and expressed hopes that the visit would further enhance cooperation between the two nations. He also voiced concern over the situation in Gaza, urging the international community to intervene against Israel’s actions.
Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim shared that he had a productive discussion with Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif during his visit.
Later, at a special investiture ceremony, President Zardari awarded the Nishan-e-Pakistan to Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim in recognition of his support for Islamic causes and his friendship with Pakistan.
The ceremony highlighted Ibrahim’s admiration for Allama Iqbal, noting that Iqbal’s work has inspired him throughout his political journey.
Anwar Ibrahim is known for his advocacy of humanitarian causes and Islamic values, with a strong commitment to social justice and global issues affecting the Islamic world. He has consistently supported self-determination movements and opposed oppression globally while striving to combat Islamophobia and promote interfaith harmony.
The ceremony was attended by Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, federal ministers, military leaders, diplomats, and senior officials. Following the ceremony, President Zardari hosted a state dinner in honor of the Malaysian Prime Minister and his delegation.
