ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Bahrain have reaffirmed their commitment to deepening bilateral defence cooperation, with a particular focus on maritime security and training, as the Commander of Bahrain’s National Guard, General Shaikh Mohammed Bin Isa Bin Salman Al Khalifa, met the Pakistan Naval Staff Chief, Admiral Naveed Ashraf, at Naval Headquarters in Islamabad.
During the meeting, both sides discussed matters of mutual interest, the regional security situation, and avenues for enhanced collaboration in defence and training.
Admiral Naveed Ashraf highlighted the Pakistan Navy’s role in promoting peace and stability through Regional Maritime Security Patrols, an initiative aimed at ensuring safe and secure waters in the region, according to a statement by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
General Shaikh Mohammed Bin Isa Bin Salman Al Khalifa acknowledged and appreciated the Pakistan Navy’s contributions towards regional maritime security and stability.
He commended Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to collaborative efforts in safeguarding the maritime domain.
Both sides reiterated their resolve to further strengthen defence cooperation, particularly in naval operations and security initiatives.
They expressed a shared commitment to deepening the existing bilateral relationship, with a focus on training programmes and joint military exercises.
Upon his arrival at Naval Headquarters, the Commander of Bahrain’s National Guard was received by Admiral Naveed Ashraf and introduced to the Principal Staff Officers.
His visit underscores the strong and historic ties between Pakistan and Bahrain, particularly in the realm of defence collaboration.
Pakistan and Bahrain enjoy longstanding brotherly relations. The visit of the Commander of Bahrain’s National Guard will further bolster bilateral defence ties and promote stronger coordination between the armed forces of both nations.
