Pakistan Basketball Federation Imposes Suspensions, Fines on Officials, Players

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Basketball Federation (PBBF) made a significant decision on Sunday, taking action against various officials and players for misconduct and violations.

Ghulam Mohammad Khan, President of the Karachi Basketball Association (KBBA), was suspended by the general council chaired by PBBF President retired Brig Iftikhar Mansoor due to regulatory breaches and misconduct. Khan acknowledged his errors, apologized, and endorsed Muhammad Yaqoob, the senior vice-president, as his temporary replacement.

Furthermore, Zafar Iqbal and Zain-ul-Abideen from KBBA were banned for three years and fined for severe misconduct during a championship in Quetta.

Usman Paracha from Khanewal was banned for falsely representing the PBBF and misconduct, with his case referred for further action. Additionally, fines and bans were imposed on players from various teams for violations including illegitimate representation and misconduct.

The PBBF ratified the establishment of a scrutiny committee to ensure transparent KBBA elections and finalized developmental programs for the upcoming South Asian Games hosted by Pakistan.
