POTCHEFSTROOM: Pakistan’s U19 cricket team outplayed Ireland in an intense U19 World Cup match at the Senwes Park stadium in Potchefstroom. Securing a hard-earned victory, Pakistan triumphed over Ireland by three wickets, with a remarkable 38 balls to spare. Opting to bowl first after winning the toss, Pakistan’s bowlers delivered an exceptional performance, limiting Ireland to just 181 runs in 48.1 overs.
Obaid Shah spearheaded the bowling attack, claiming three crucial wickets while conceding only 31 runs in his ten overs. Ali Raza, Amir Hasan, and Ahmed Hassan also made significant contributions, each dismissing two Irish batsmen.
Pakistan’s batting lineup mirrored the excellence displayed by their bowlers, successfully chasing down the target of 182 runs in less than 44 overs. Ahmad Hassan’s stellar performance earned him the prestigious player of the match award, as he showcased his skill with an impressive 57 runs off 72 deliveries. Haroom Arshad and Saad Baig further bolstered the innings, scoring 25 runs each.
Despite the loss, Ireland’s bowlers put up a valiant effort, with John McNally notably scoring 53 runs off 81 balls. Contributions from Harry Dyer and Oliver Christopher Riley, who scored 31 and 18 runs respectively, showcased Ireland’s fighting spirit.
