ISLAMABAD: Pakistani businessmen’s management skills, business-oriented approach, and innovation have earned them the distinction of top second ranking in global outsourcing for the well-known US-based departmental store chain JCPenney.
JCPenney’s Senior Vice President Wayne Milano said that Pakistan ranked second in global sourcing for the company. Environmental sustainability governance, inclusion, traceability, and diversity were the strengths of Pakistani suppliers, assisting them in securing a greater market share for Pakistani items.
In a meeting with Pakistan’s envoy to the United States, Masood Khan, at Pakistan’s Embassy in Washington DC, Milano said that the second generation of Pakistani suppliers was doing exceptionally great work with their understanding, innovation, and business-oriented skills.
He said that Pakistani suppliers were getting business opportunities and earning them. They distinguished themselves in co-creation, co-designing, capacity, infrastructure, and, most importantly, entrepreneurship.
The envoy thanked Milano for reposing confidence in Pakistani suppliers and said that Pakistan was investing in manufacturing as a big stay of the economy.
Manufacturing remains Pakistan’s priority
He said that manufacturing remains a priority for Pakistan. Over the decades, Pakistani businesses have developed resilient infrastructure for manufacturing. Pakistan started manufacturing in the late 1950s, which flourished in the 1960s and developed into a strong pillar of the economy.
The envoy added that Pakistan’s manufacturing has suffered in the recent past during the Covid-19 pandemic, natural calamities and economic situation, but the industrial field is bouncing back.
He said that a strong partnership with a United States conglomerate such as JCPenney would assist Pakistani entrepreneurs in ensuring quality control and skill development.
Appreciating the talent of young entrepreneurs of Pakistan, Milano said that the second generation had entered the market with a different set of eyes.
He said that their understanding of the market, diversity in outreach, and customer management skills were assisting them in expanding their businesses worldwide.
