ASTANA: Pakistan and Belarus on Thursday noting positive growth in all aspects of their bilateral ties over the past decade reiterated their commitment to further strengthen mutually beneficial cooperation and economic and trade ties.
The bilateral ties were reviewed in a meeting between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko on the sidelines of the SCO Summit in Astana.
A wide range of topics, including military cooperation, political relationships and regional issues came under discussion.
Prime Minister Shehbaz congratulated President Lukashenko on Belarus’ becoming a member of the SCO underlining that this would further strengthen the organization.
He underscored Pakistan’s strategy of economic revival through export-led growth, boosting public finances, and attracting investment from friendly nations.
The two leaders also discussed international and regional developments and reviewed progress on various aspects of work under the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO). The prime minister shared Pakistan’s desire and efforts for a peaceful and stable region.
Earlier, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had reaffirmed Islamabad’s commitment to working together with other member nations to strengthen the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) as an active and integrated regional forum to achieve mutual objectives of peace and prosperity.
Addressing the SCO Summit in Astana, on Thursday, he said the SCO, with its enormous human and socio-economic potential, represents a promising future.
