Pakistan Celebrates Air Force Day with Patriotic Spirit

ISLAMABAD:  Pakistan Air Force Day is being observed today with national pride in order to commemorate the valour and courage of the defenders of air space of the nation against Indian aggression in September 1965 war.

In the 1965 war, the valiant Pakistani pilots despite limited resources not only prevented Indian air attacks but also handed India a resounding defeat, showing unparalleled expertise in aerial combat and unwavering bravery.

The Pakistan Air Force (PAF) ace Muhammad Mahmood Alam, known as M. M. Alam, shot down 5 Indian Air Force Hawker Hunter Mk. 56 fighters in less than a minute.

ISPR, War, Armed Forces, Air Commodore, Alam, Sitara-e-Jurat,

Pakistan Air Force (PAF) proved its mettle during the war and targeted Indian military / IAF installations from Pathankot sector to Agra. PAF destroyed more than 50 IAF aircrafts and damaged 10, excluding undetermined losses inflicted during the night-bombing campaigns. During the period of war air superiority was achieved by Pakistan Air Force.

Flight Lieutenant Imtiaz Ahmad Bhatti and Squadron Leader Sarfaraz Ahmad Rafiqui thwarted the evil designs of the enemy on Halwara and destroyed many enemy’s aircraft. Squadron Leader Sarfaraz Rafiqui fought bravely in the 1965 war and embraced martyrdom. Similarly, Squadron Leader Sajjad Haider exhibited exceptional leadership, indomitable courage and flying skills in operations during the war.
