Pakistan, China Agree to Fast-track Implementation of ML-1, SEZs

BEIJING: Pakistan and China on Tuesday agreed to fast-track the implementation of ML-One and Special Economic Zones (SEZs) for the timely execution of projects.

An agreement to this effect was inked during a meeting between planning minister Ahsan Iqbal and Chairman National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) of China Zheng Shanjie in Beijing.

Both the sides agreed to hold regular meetings of the Joint Working Groups (JWGs) to review the cooperation under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) framework and focus on agriculture, Science and Technology, industrialization, and Socio-economic development.

Chairmen Zheng offered to share Chinese expertise and knowledge to increase the export earnings of Pakistan and accelerate Special Economic Zones’ development.

Ahsan Iqbal is on a four-day official trip to China to mark the 10-year celebrations of the CPEC.
