Pakistan, China Expand Cooperation Under CPEC Project: Mao Ning

BEIJING: Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Mao Ning said on Monday said that Pakistan and China have expanded cooperation under the landmark China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and achieved remarkable progress in areas such as industrial development, green development, health, and information technology.

While speaking at her regular briefing, Mao Ning maintained that CPEC is the flagship project for Pakistan-China bilateral cooperation. He said the project had contributed significantly to Pakistan’s regional interconnectivity and social economic development.

CPEC Project Made Significant Progress in IT, Green Development, Health, and Industry

The Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson said that in recent years, Pakistan and China had expanded bilateral cooperation under the landmark CPEC project and made remarkable progress in several areas, including Information Technology development, green development, health, and industrial development.

The spokesperson said that the first meeting of the joint working group overseeing coordination in the field of Information Technology (IT) took place in Beijing.

CPEC Project Meeting Pakistan’s Energy Demand

Mao Nin said that China is working to meet Pakistan’s energy demand, established a green project in Gwadar port, and donated solar equipment to Balochistan province. “Both the countries jointly worked to contain COVID-19,” she added.

The Chinese official said that China was ready to work in coordination with Pakistan to implement the critical consensus of their leaders to make CPEC a demonstrative project as an example of historical collaboration under the Belt and Road initiative.

PM Shehbaz’s Visit to China was Unprecedented

It is pertinent to mention here that Pakistani Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif’s visit to China in November was very constructive, successful, and unprecedented.

During PM Shehbaz Sharif’s visit to Beijing, both countries agreed to further build on the industry, digital, health, and green corridors launched under the CPEC project earlier this year and carry out relevant cooperation. – APP
