BAKU: Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said on Wednesday that the security of Chinese nationals remained a top priority of his government.
Prime Minister Shehbaz said this during his meeting with Chinese Vice Premier Ding Xuexiang on the sidelines of COP29 in Baku, Azerbaijan.
During his meeting, Shehbaz Sharif highlighted the steps taken by the Pakistani government for the security and safety of Chinese nationals in Pakistan, the state-run news agency APP reported.
Both sides discussed bilateral cooperation between Pakistan and China.
Referring to the recent visit of the Chinese Premier to Pakistan, the Prime Minister emphasised that China is a long-standing friend of Pakistan, and a new era of strengthened relations between the two countries had begun.
He also outlined the efforts made by the government to eradicate terrorism completely, reiterating that Pakistan is committed to rooting out terrorism from the country.
The Chinese Vice Premier expressed his desire to collaborate with Pakistan in overcoming security challenges and further expanding Pak-China cooperation for the development and prosperity of both nations.
