PESHAWAR: The Torkham crossing between Pakistan and Afghanistan would remain closed for three days, halting the movement of passengers, said border officials on Friday.

According to Pakistani officials, the crossing point will remain closed from May 17 to 19 for pedestrian movement to facilitate the transfer of visa and passport control services from one building to another.

However, the border would remain open for freight vehicles for import and export of goods, he added.

The officials said the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) immigration department was relocating its operation system to a new office.

The Torkham crossing will reopen for pedestrian movement from Monday.
