KARACHI:  Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi announced on Thursday that all preparations for the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy are complete, assuring fans that they will experience top facilities during the event.

Naqvi made these remarks during a visit to the National Stadium in Karachi, where he reviewed the ongoing construction and upgrades, Radio Pakistan reported.

The National Stadium is one of the key venues for the ICC Champions Trophy, which is set to take place in Pakistan from February 19 to March 9 next year.

In a statement shared on X, the PCB confirmed that following Naqvi’s directives, both score screens at the National Stadium will be installed higher above the posts.

This change is aimed at ensuring that spectators have an unobstructed view of the match. Naqvi further assured that the installation of new LED lights would enhance the stadium’s atmosphere, including the addition of light shows for fans to enjoy.

The PCB Chairman emphasised that the work should be completed before the tournament begins, while maintaining high standards of quality. During his visit, officials from the Frontier Works Organisation briefed him on the progress of the project.

Meanwhile, the International Cricket Council (ICC) board meeting, which was expected to address the future of the 2025 Champions Trophy, has once again been postponed due to ongoing disagreements involving India.

The meeting, initially planned as an introductory session under new ICC Chairman Jay Shah, had raised hopes for significant discussions regarding the Champions Trophy’s schedule and other important matters.

Earlier, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had proposed a “Partnership Formula” in a bid to address the deadlock over the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025.

The formula, also referred to as the “Partnership or Fusion Formula,” suggests that India play its ICC matches in Dubai rather than Pakistan, and Pakistan play its matches in Dubai instead of India when hosted by either country, various media outlets reported while citing sources.

Under the partnership formula, Pakistan and India will play their respective matches in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) when hosted in each other’s countries.
