PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court on Thursday issued an order preventing authorities from initiating any legal actions against 16 Afghan transgenders and halting their repatriation.
According to APP, the decision comes amidst concerns raised by the legal counsel representing the petitioners, who emphasized the risky circumstances faced by Afghan transgenders in Afghanistan.
The petitioners’ representative informed the court about the risky situation faced by Afghan transgenders, advocating against their return. He highlighted the possession of Proof of Registration cards and other pertinent legal documentation by the petitioners.
In a procedural move, the court clubbed the writ petition concerning Afghan transgenders with a separate case involving an Afghan singer, adjourned further proceedings. –APP
