ISLAMABAD: An accountability court in Pakistan will announce the decision on the £190 million reference involving former prime minister Imran Khan and his wife, Bushra Bibi, on 13 January, local media reported on Monday.

According to Express Tribune, the accountability court announced the new decision date as 13 January, citing the leave of Judge Nasir Javed Rana.

Earlier, the court had scheduled the decision for Monday, but its absence was conveyed to Imran Khan’s legal counsel, Khalid Yousuf Chaudhry, by the court staff.

This is the second time the announcement of the decision has been deferred. It was supposed to be announced on December 23 but was delayed to January 6.

Local media cited the NAB officials as saying that the former prime minister and his wife received land worth billions of rupees intended for the construction of an educational institute.

The accountability watchdog arrested the PTI founder on November 13 last year in connection with the said case, Geo News reported. NAB then interrogated Khan and Bushra for 17 days in the Adiala Jail.

The trial started after filing of the NAB reference on December 1, 2023. On 27 February 2024, charges were formally filed against the accused.
