ISLAMABAD: In a resounding victory at the global diplomatic stage, Pakistan has dealt a major blow to India, securing significant victories in global elections held under the auspices of the United Nations. Pakistan’s success at diplomatic levels stands as a testament to its diplomatic prowess, as it clinched key roles in international forums.

This resounding achievement marks a major setback for India’s efforts to isolate Pakistan on the global stage, highlighting Pakistan’s growing influence and constructive role in shaping crucial international policies.

At the global diplomatic stage, Pakistan has secured a major win by being elected as a member of the Executive Board of UNESCO with overwhelming support. The success was achieved during group elections held in November 2023 under the auspices of the United Nations, where Pakistan not only retained its position on the board but also emerged victorious in the race for the Vice Chair of the UNESCO Executive Board, defeating India.

During the elections held on November 15, 2023, Pakistan garnered an impressive 154 votes, the highest among the participating nations. The triumph not only underscores Pakistan’s standing on the international stage but also serves as a testament to the country’s longstanding support and constructive role within the United Nations.

Major Diplomatic Triumph for Pakistan Against India

The UNESCO Executive Board plays a pivotal role in shaping the policies and programs of the organization, particularly in the fields of education, science, culture, and communication. Pakistan’s re-election is anticipated to bring various benefits to the country, enhancing its influence in global advocacy and cooperation on these critical issues.

In a significant blow to India, Pakistan clinched the Vice Chair position of UNESCO Executive Board for the period 2023-2025. The Asia-Pacific Group, comprising 58 member countries, witnessed Pakistan securing an impressive 38 votes, while India trailed with 18 votes. This defeat for India further solidifies Pakistan’s position as a key player in international forums.

Pakistan’s membership in the Executive Board and Vice-Chairmanship provides a unique opportunity for the country to strengthen diplomatic ties and cooperation with other member nations. The responsibilities include actively participating in the development of principles, promoting global priorities, and effectively monitoring UNESCO-administered programs and activities.
