ISLAMABAD: Denmark’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Jacob Linulf, met with Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs, Gilgit-Baltistan, and SAFRON, Engineer Amir Muqam, on Tuesday.
During the meeting, they discussed a range of topics of mutual interest, including the welfare of Afghan refugees and opportunities to strengthen bilateral cooperation between the two countries.
The meeting was also attended by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) Representative in Pakistan, Philippa Candler, as well as the Secretary of SAFRON, Zafar Hassan, and Joint Secretary, Agha Wasim Ahmed.
Both sides agreed to enhance high-level contacts and explore new avenues for cooperation. They discussed the potential for joint programmes in education, health, and professional training for Afghan refugees.
Engineer Amir Muqam commended Denmark’s cooperation in addressing the Afghan refugee crisis, emphasising the shared responsibility of both nations in managing these challenges. He also highlighted Pakistan’s longstanding efforts in hosting millions of Afghan refugees, despite the financial burden involved.

The Danish envoy, Ambassador Linulf, appreciated Pakistan’s role in hosting Afghan refugees and praised the extension of the Proof of Registration (POR) cards for Afghan refugees in Pakistan.
He also acknowledged Pakistan’s humanitarian efforts and the support it has extended to Afghan refugees, recognising the country’s exemplary role in managing the situation despite limited international attention.
Both sides expressed hope that continued cooperation would help improve the situation for Afghan refugees and explore sustainable solutions to these ongoing challenges.
