Pakistan, Denmark Resolve to Strengthen Bilateral Cooperation

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Denmark on Monday reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining momentum in bilateral relations and coordinating closely on all issues of mutual concern, including at multilateral forums.

The fourth round of bilateral political consultations between Pakistan and Denmark was held in Islamabad, Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated in a press release.

At the talks, the Pakistani delegation was led by Additional Foreign Secretary Europe Shafqat Ali Khan, while the Danish side was led by State Secretary for Foreign Policy Lisbet Zilmer-Johns.

Expressing satisfaction with the upward trajectory of bilateral cooperation, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining momentum in their relations and coordinating closely on all issues of mutual concern, including at multilateral forums.

The two sides also conducted a comprehensive review of the full spectrum of bilateral cooperation, which includes political relations, trade and investment, climate change, renewable energy, infrastructure development, and people-to-people contacts, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated.

Important regional and global developments also came under discussion. They also agreed to commemorate the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and Denmark in a befitting manner this year.

Both sides also decided to explore new avenues of cooperation in green technologies under the framework of the Green Framework Engagement Agreement signed in September 2022.

Earlier today, Pakistan Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb held a meeting with Pakistan’s Ambassador to Denmark Shoaib Sarwar to discuss ways for enhancing cooperation and collaboration in the field of trade and commerce between the two countries.

The Finance Minister highlighted the role of the Pakistani diaspora in the socio-economic uplift of Pakistan.

Ambassador Shoaib Sarwar apprised the Finance Minister about the current state of bilateral ties and the scope and opportunities for further business ventures and collaborations.

He also highlighted the role of Pakistani expatriates settled in Demark in strengthening bilateral ties and promoting commerce and cultural exchanges between both countries.
