Pakistan Deploys Warship in Indian Ocean for Merchant Ships Security

RAWALPINDI: Pakistan has deployed a warship in the Indian Ocean to ensure the safety and security of merchant ships traveling to and from Pakistani ports, according to a military statement released on Friday.

The Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), the media affairs wing of the military, stated that the Pakistan Navy has deployed its warship PNS Yarmook, equipped with a helicopter, for Regional Maritime Security Patrol in the Indian Ocean.

“The warship will ensure the safety and security of merchant ships entering and leaving Pakistani ports,” added the ISPR.

During its deployment, in addition to its primary operations, the Pakistan Navy ship will engage in joint operations and exercises with friendly countries. The ship will also visit regional ports for Naval Diplomatic tasks in alignment with Pakistan’s foreign policy objectives.

Equipped with state-of-the-art weapons and equipment, the ship is capable of addressing multifaceted threats and conducting a wide range of maritime operations, the ISPR statement read.

Pakistan Navy warships routinely fulfill duties on Regional Maritime Security Patrols. The Pakistan Navy is committed to ensuring freedom of navigation on the high seas, safeguarding international sea lanes of communication, and protecting national maritime interests and trade routes.
