PESHAWAR: The repatriation of undocumented foreigners through three border points in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) continued, with a total of 229,560 people returned to their home countries, including Afghanistan, by November 20.

As per the spokesperson for the KP Home Department, 25,795 individuals were deported through the Torkham border, 3,346 through Angor Adda in Lower Waziristan, and 419 through Kharlachi in the Kurram tribal district. This repatriation effort has been ongoing since September 17, 2023.

Deputy commissioners are currently engaged in a survey to assess the status of voluntary returns. Eight hundred forty-six undocumented foreigners have departed through the Torkham border, with an additional 733 from Punjab province. On November 20 alone, 526 illegal foreigners were repatriated through the Torkham border.

The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan shut down the Torkham border with Pakistan on Tuesday after Islamabad imposed visa requirements for Afghan drivers.
