ISLAMABAD: Anwaarul Haq Kakar, the interim Prime Minister of Pakistan said on Saturday that to ensure the protection of citizen’s rights, Pakistan was developing a “social contract.”

He made these comments during a discussion with a group of Harvard University students visiting Pakistan. Yesterday, the students interacted with Chief of the Army Staff, Gen. Syed Asim Munir.

The meeting today covered a variety of subjects, including the state of democracy, the economy, the brain-drain and the difficulties Pakistan is experiencing due to terrorism.

While speaking with the students, the premier claimed that if a country wanted to be connected to international technology, research, and development, it was impossible to “divorce itself” from America.

“We are sensible enough to be in this relationship, but that doesn’t mean we endorse everything America does, and of course, we have a very healthy disagreement,” he said.
