ISLAMABAD/LAHORE: Pakistan on Friday dispatched an additional 154 tons of relief goods to the quake-affected areas of Turkiye and Syria.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who oversaw the dispatch of the relief goods at the Lahore airport, said that Pakistan will leave no stone unturned to help the distressed brethren in Turkiye, a brotherly friend country.

He said that the Pakistani government and the people were equally aggrieved over the loss of human lives in Turkiye and Syria.

A special Turkish military aircraft left the Lahore airport with the supplies, including medicine, blankets, tents, food packages and other vital items.

Supplies goods

A Pakistan International Airline (PIA) flight carrying 12 tons of supplies also departed for Turkiye, while another special flight of the national airline with 30 tons of relief goods is expected to leave soon from Islamabad.

Meanwhile, a cargo carrying 40 tons of aid goods is scheduled to depart for Turkiye tomorrow (Saturday).

The United States also announced an aid of $85 million, while the World Bank has pledged a rehabilitation fund of $1.78 billion for the earthquake victims.

Britain has sent many thermal blankets to help the victims during the cold weather, and a field hospital is also set to be built in the earthquake-prone areas.

In the face of the devastating disaster, the international community has come together to provide aid and support to the affected regions. These efforts will go a long way in helping the earthquake victims and rebuilding the devastated communities.
