Pakistan earns US $158m from travel services’ export in 4 months

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan earned $158.140 million during the first four months of the current fiscal year 2022-23 by providing travel services in various countries.

As per the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS), this shows a negative growth of 13.59 percent compared to the $183.006 million worth of services provided during the fiscal year 2021-22. Personal travel services decreased by 13.77 percent during the months under review, from $182.356 million last year to $157.250 million from July-October 2022.

Among personal services, education-related expenditure also dropped by 4.59 percent, while the exports of health-related expenditure dropped by 59.09 percent. In addition, other personal services observed a decrease of 13.62 percent.

Meanwhile, the Pakistan Bureau of statics (PBS) data revealed that business services exports grew by 36.92 percent, from $ 0.650 million to $ 0.890 million.

It is important to mention that during the first four months of the current financial year (2022-23), the export services witnessed an increase of 3.97 percent compared to the corresponding period of last year, it added.

The services exports from July-October (2022-23) were recorded at $ 2259.21 million; in July-October (2021-22), the exports were $ 2172.85 million. It shows a growth of 3.97 percent.

There was a decline in the imports of the country by 11.83 percent, declining from $ 3483.37 million last year to $ 3071.13 million during review months.
