Pakistan, Egypt Agree to Strengthen Cooperation in Religious Education

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Minister of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony, Chaudhry Salik Hussain, expressed Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening its relationship with Egypt across various areas of mutual interest, particularly in religious education.

He said this during a meeting with Egyptian Ambassador Dr. Ihab Mohamed Abdelhamid Hassan at his office.

During the meeting, they discussed means of enhancing bilateral relations between Pakistan and Egypt, including the exchange of expertise aimed at bolstering the role of mosques as centers of religious, spiritual, and social guidance, as well as social services.

The ambassador highlighted plans to establish an institution in Punjab province affiliated with Al-Azhar University of Egypt to facilitate religious education.

He also mentioned that 11 Egyptian professors were currently teaching in various faculties at the International Islamic University, Islamabad.

Furthermore, the ambassador extended an invitation to the minister to participate in a conference focused on the role of women in promoting awareness.
