ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Election Commission on Saturday extended the deadline for political parties participating in the 2024 general elections to submit their party tickets for election symbols. The ECP extended the deadline for submission until 7 pm today.
Earlier in the day, the ECP assigned an election symbol, a lantern, to the Awami National Party (ANP) for their participation in the upcoming general election scheduled for February 8, 2024.
Moreover, the ECP has granted an extension until May 10 for the inter-party elections of the ANP following a Rs 20,000 fine. A notice was issued to the ANP President Asfandyar Wali Khan, and penalties were imposed on 13 other parties, leading to their delisting for failure to conduct inter-party elections.
