BEIJING: The Embassy of Pakistan in Beijing held a ceremony on Monday to commemorate Defence and Martyrs Day, honoring the bravery, determination, and ultimate sacrifices of the Pakistan armed forces in defending their homeland.
The event was attended by numerous dignitaries, including senior Chinese civil and military officials, members of the diplomatic corps, defence attaches, media representatives, the Pakistani community, and embassy officers. The chief guest was Air Marshal Jia Zhigang, Deputy Commander of the People’s Liberation Army (Air Force) of China.
The ceremony began with the playing of the national anthem, followed by a moment of silence to pay tribute to the martyrs who gave their lives for Pakistan.
In his address, Pakistan’s Ambassador to China, Khalil Hashmi, emphasized the strong bond between Pakistan and China, highlighting the deep-rooted partnership and cooperation in defence between the two nations. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening these ties to promote peace and security in the region.

The event also included a presentation on the historic events of the 1965 war, showcasing the acts of heroism displayed by the armed forces. Additionally, a short video was screened, highlighting the military’s modern achievements and its contributions to disaster relief, peacekeeping missions, and regional stability.
