ISLAMABAD: The Embassy of Pakistan in Brussels, in collaboration with the Ministry of Commerce and the Directorate General Trade (DG Trade) of the European Commission, hosted an informative session on the Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CS3D).
This directive introduces new obligations regarding human rights and climate change for European economic operators and businesses in non-EU countries that are part of their supply chains.
The session attracted a significant number of business associations and relevant stakeholders from Pakistan. Gabriele Lo Monaco from DG Trade delivered an insightful presentation, outlining the key aspects of the regulations, their rationale, and the enforcement mechanisms involved.
Following the presentation, an interactive Q&A session provided participants with additional clarity on the directive. Omar Hameed, Economic Minister at the Pakistan Embassy in Brussels, expressed gratitude to the European Commission for facilitating the session.
He emphasized the importance for Pakistani businesses to prepare for and adapt to the new regulations, as compliance will be crucial for maintaining access to European markets.
