RAWALPINDI: Pakistan’s security forces successfully thwarted an attempt by three terrorists to infiltrate the Pakistan-Afghanistan border in the Batwar area of Bajaur district on Sunday. The engagement resulted in the elimination of all three terrorists, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement.

According to ISPR, on December 31, the movement of three terrorists, who were trying to infiltrate the Pakistan- Afghanistan border, was picked up by Pakistan’s security forces in the Batwar area of Bajaur district.

After the fire exchange, all three terrorists were killed. Weapons, ammunition, and explosives were also recovered from the killed terrorists, ISPR added.

Meanwhile, in another incident on the night of 30/31 December, terrorists from inside Afghanistan opened fire on a Pakistani Border Post in the Spinwam area of North Waziristan district, ISPR said. Pakistani troops responded in a befitting manner to the attack, causing significant losses to the terrorists.

However, during the exchange of fire, Naik Abdul Rauf (aged 31 and a resident of Rahim Yar Khan district), having fought gallantly, embraced martyrdom, ISPR said.

Pakistan has consistently been asking the Interim Afghan government to ensure effective border management on their side of the border. Pakistan expects the Interim Afghan government to fulfill its obligations and deny the use of Afghan soil by terrorists for perpetuating acts of terrorism against Pakistan.
