Pakistan Fully Supports UN Peace Missions: Khar

ISLAMABAD: Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Hina Rabbani Khar has reiterated Pakistan’s full support for United Nations peacekeeping missions and its commitment to peacekeeping in the world.

Under-Secretary-General for UN Department of Peace Operations, Jean-Pierre Lacroix held a meeting with Hina Rabbani Khar here at Foreign Office on Tuesday.

During the meeting, the minister highlighted Pakistan’s position as one of the top-troop contributing nation in the world and said that Pakistan was always ready to work for the world peace.

She also underscored Pakistan’s commitment to multilateralism and said that Pakistan would fully support the reform of the UN peacebuilding structure.

On the occasion, the USG Jean-Pierre Lacroix lauded Pakistan’s role in UN peacekeeping. He paid tribute to Pakistani peacekeepers who sacrificed their lives while serving under the in the UN peace missions in different parts of the world. The due also discussed ways to enhance the efficiency of peacekeeping operations through advancing political processes, ensuring the safety and security of peacekeepers, and provision of adequate resources corresponding to the mandates.
