ISLAMABAD: The federal government of Pakistan has announced a five-day-long holiday for Eidul Fitr, which marks the end of the Islamic holy month of Ramadan.

According to a statement issued by the Federal Ministry of Interior, the holidays will be observed from April 21 Friday, to April 25, Tuesday.

The Cabinet Division had recommended the holidays, which were subsequently approved by the government.

The federal interior ministry will issue a formal notification regarding the holidays.

Earlier this month, the Ruet-e-Hilal Research Council (RHRC) had said that the chances of Eidul Fitr 2023 falling on April 21, Friday, were slim.

The new crescent was expected to be born at 9:13 am on April 20, with an age of less than 10 hours that day.

Eidul Fitr most likely on April 22

Mufti Khalid Ijaz, a prominent Islamic scholar, had said that Eidul Fitr 2023 would most likely be celebrated on April 22, 2023, after completing 30 days of fasting during the holy month of Ramadan.

Eidul Fitr is celebrated by Muslims around the world as a joyous occasion, marking the end of a month of fasting from dawn until dusk. The Eid festival is typically celebrated with prayers, family gatherings, and feasting.

The government’s decision to announce a five-day holiday is expected to provide an opportunity for people to celebrate the festival with their loved ones.

The announcement of the Eidul Fitr holidays has been welcomed by people across Pakistan, who are looking forward to spending time with their friends and families during this important occasion.

The government has urged people to observe the necessary precautions and follow COVID-19 guidelines during the holidays to prevent the spread of the virus.
