ISLAMABAD: The government of Pakistan has decided to maintain the current prices of Petrol and High-Speed Diesel (HSD) for the next fortnight starting from 16 November 2024.
According to a notification issued by Finance Division, the current petrol price in Pakistan would stay at Rs 248.38 per litre while the high-speed diesel (HSD) will be available at Rs 255.14 per litre.
The government on October 31, contrary to market expectations, raised the price of petrol by Rs1.35 per litre for the next fortnight, effective from November 1 through November 15.
Petrol is mainly used in private transportation, small vehicles, rickshaws, and two-wheelers. Higher fuel prices significantly impact the budgets of the members of the middle and lower-middle classes, who primarily consume petrol for commuting.
On the other hand, a significant portion of the transport sector relies on high-speed diesel.
The consumption of high-speed diesel particularly contributes to the increased prices of vegetables and other food items.
By retaining the current prices of petroleum products, the government tries to provide stability and relief to consumers.
