Pakistan: Govt Slashes Petrol Price by Rs 40

ISLAMABAD:  Pakistan’s interim government on Sunday reduced the price of petrol by Rs 40 per litre and diesel by Rs 15 per litre for the next fortnight, the Finance Ministry said.

The decision of the government brought a sigh of relief for the people hit by record inflation and sky rocketing prices of the fuel.

The new price of petrol is Rs283.38 rupees and 303.18 rupees for High Speed Diesel (HSD), a notification of the Ministry of Finance said.

The notification added that the decreasing trend of the petroleum prices in the international market and due to the appreciation of the Pakistani Rupee, the government has decided to revise the existing prices of the petroleum products.

Decrease in Petrol Prices in Pakistan

On October 1, petrol prices were reduced by Rs8 per litre, marking the end of a two-month-long hike, and were set at Rs323.38 per litre.

Additionally, during the same adjustment, the price of high-speed diesel (HSD) was dropped by Rs11 per litre to Rs318.18, and Kerosene oil prices reduced by Rs7.53 per litre to Rs237.28.
