ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said that the government is taking practical measures to bring foreign exchange into the country through legitimate channels.

He said this while talking to the Chairperson of the Arab Monetary Fund Fahad M. Alturki in Islamabad on Thursday.

He added the digitization of the economy and e-commerce sector as the topmost priority of the government. The Prime Minister said the development of digital connectivity between Pakistan and the Middle East with the cooperation of Buna-Raast is a welcoming sign.

Highlighting the advantages of the Buna-Raast connectivity project, the Prime Minister said it will not only play a vital part in making digital transactions more effective in Pakistan but this project will regulate the flow of remittances and improve the digital governance system.

He termed the Buna-Raast connectivity project as a reflection of a shared vision. Shehbaz Sharif went on to say that this land-mark initiative aims to facilitate fellow Pakistanis in the Arab world to quickly send their remittances to the country.

Fahad M. Alturki during the meeting said Pakistan is the first country outside the Arab world to join the Arab Monetary Fund’s project Buna-Raast.

He believed that the economy of both sides would develop with mutual cooperation and trust through the Buna-Raast project.
