ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Monday summoned US Deputy Chief of Mission Andrew Schofer and handed over a demarche to him over US-India joint statement.
In a statement, the Foreign Office said the US deputy chief of mission was summoned at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Monday evening. It added that “Islamabad’s concern and disappointment at the unwarranted, one-sided and misleading references to it in the Joint Statement were conveyed to the US side.

The FO statement maintained, “It was stressed that the US should refrain from issuing statements that may be construed as an encouragement of New Delhi’s baseless and politically motivated narrative against Islamabad,”.
The statement further said, It was also emphasized that counter-terrorism cooperation between Islamabad and Washington was progressing well and that an enabling environment centered around trust and understanding was imperative to further solidify Pakistan-US relations”.
Earlier, Pakistan’s Minister for Foreign Affairs Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Minister for Defense Khawaja Asif have also denounced the US-India joint statement.
