BEIJING: Former Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian stated on Friday that Pakistan, a resilient nation, has enormous potential to grow its economy.
Being an ironclad and time-tested friend, China always firmly holds Pakistan’s hand. Given the international and regional challenges, Pakistan is not alone, as China is standing by Pakistan to progress and grow together.
These comments were shared by Zhao Lijian at a discussion with Muhammad Mehdi, a foreign policy expert, at the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Mehdi unequivocally backed the one-China policy in the meeting.
According to Mehdi, Pakistan feels this is a legitimate and constitutional concept belonging to the People’s Republic of China. Pakistan also applauds China’s exemplary and outspoken stance on the South China Sea issue.
In the meantime, discussions about regional prosperity, peace, and development took place during a dinner hosted by a small group of Chinese legislators in honour of Mehdi.
These discussions focused on issues of mutual interest to broaden and strengthen Sino-Pak relations. Additionally, they talked about CPEC’s current state and came up with various ideas to boost Pakistan-China cooperation and kickstart CPEC.
Dr. Zhang Jamei, a professor at Peking University, stated at a separate meeting that Peking University is prepared to collaborate with Pakistani think tanks on CPEC and Pakistan-China ties, as well as to support cultural and people-to-people exchanges to better the understanding of the two nations’ populations. — APP
