Pakistan High Commission in London Observes Kashmir Black Day

LONDON: The Pakistan High Commission in London hosted a photo exhibition and seminar to mark “Jammu & Kashmir Black Day” and expressed solidarity with the people of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).

British parliamentarians including Lord Qurban Hussain, Baroness Nosheen Mubarak, MP Yasmin Qureshi, MP Mohammad Afzal Khan, MP Adnan Hussain, Councillor Yasmine Dar, and Raja Najabat Hussain, Chairman of the Jammu Kashmir Self-Determination Movement International, along with Kashmiri residents in the UK and media representatives attended the seminar.

In his keynote address, Dr. Mohammad Faisal, the High Commissioner of Pakistan to the UK, reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to resolving the Jammu & Kashmir issue in accordance with the wishes of the Kashmiri people. He condemned the Indian government for holding “sham elections” in the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu & Kashmir, calling it a clear violation of international law.

Dr. Faisal highlighted the use of illegal force, unlawful detention of Kashmiri leaders, human rights abuses against women, children, and the elderly, as well as communication blackouts and the use of pellet guns on youth as brutal actions by the Indian government.

He urged the Pakistani and Kashmiri community in the UK to unite and advocate for the resolution of the Jammu & Kashmir issue in line with UN Security Council resolutions.

British parliamentarians echoed this sentiment, stating, “We will continue to raise our voices for the inalienable rights of the people of Jammu & Kashmir.”

They said that the Jammu & Kashmir issue is not merely a bilateral matter between Pakistan and India but a longstanding international concern. They called on the international community to urge India to cease human rights violations against innocent Kashmiris.

Other speakers paid tribute to the sacrifices of the Kashmiri people, who have endured suffering at the hands of occupying forces.

Earlier, the High Commissioner, along with British parliamentarians and prominent Kashmiri leaders, visited the photo exhibition organized by the Pakistan High Commission. The exhibition showcased powerful imagery depicting the atrocities faced by the innocent people of Jammu & Kashmir.
