ISLAMABAD: A two-week-long joint military exercise between Pakistan and Turkey, Ataturk XIII, has started at the Special Operations School in Cherat, northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, to enhance counterterrorism capabilities and strengthen bilateral military cooperation.
Special Forces from Turkey and Pakistan’s Special Services Group participating in the “Ataturk XIII” exercise, Radio Pakistan reported on Wednesday. This is the 13th bilateral exercise between the two nations in counterterrorism training.
The Commandant of the Special Operations School attended the opening ceremony of the executive as the Chief Guest.
These regular exercises aim to enhance professional skills, strengthen military ties, and facilitate knowledge exchange between the armed forces of both countries.
The exercise is taking part at a time when Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, is reaching Pakistan on a two-day visit.
According to the Foreign Office, President Erdogan will be accompanied by a high-level delegation, including Ministers and senior officials, as well as corporate leaders.
During the visit, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and President Erdogan will co-chair the 7th Session of the Pakistan-Turkey High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council.
Meanwhile, the 9th Multinational Maritime Exercise Aman 2025 has successfully concluded in the Northern Arabian Sea.
The exercise, hosted by the Pakistan Navy, brought together naval forces from around the world under the theme “United for Peace,” underscoring Pakistan’s commitment to maritime security and global cooperation.
Nearly 60 countries participated in the large-scale event, with their naval warships, aircraft, marines, and special operations forces taking part.
