ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has implemented a one-document regime at the Chaman Border in Balochistan to curb the illegal border crossing of people and the transportation of contraband, Radio Pakistan reported.
The decision will transform Chaman and make it a trade hub instead of a smuggling trade hub.
The move highlights the commitment of Pakistan to combating smuggling and promoting legal cross-border trade. It also reflects the government’s dedication to addressing the concerns and needs of communities residing in border areas.
However, some political leaders and smuggler mafia are misleading the people about one document regime. In reality, smugglers and their allies will suffer from the decision of the government.
The government has taken several measures for the welfare of the people at the Chaman Border including the establishment of a Passport Office, markets and taxi stands, reduction in passport fees and providing of free ration to the needy people.
This comprehensive documentation system is likely to contribute significantly to border security and regulatory compliance.
As the one-document regime comes into effect, the authorities are asking residents and stakeholders to cooperate and comply with the new regulations. By working together, Pakistan can strengthen border security, boost economic growth, and improve the overall well-being of its citizens.
The residents of Chaman, who last year visited the Regional Passport Office, expressed their appreciation for the government’s proactive measures
