RAWALPINDI: Major General Mohammad Bagheri, Chief of General Staff (CGS) of the Iranian Armed Forces, met Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir, in Rawalpindi on Monday during his official visit to Pakistan.
During the meeting, both sides discussed matters related to the prevailing regional security environment and bilateral defence cooperation, Pakistan Army’s media wing, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) stated in a press release.
Upon his arrival at GHQ, Major General Bagheri laid a floral wreath at the Yadgar-e-Shuhada (Martyrs’ Monument) to pay homage to Pakistan’s martyrs.
He was warmly received, including a guard of honour presented by a smartly turned-out contingent of the Pakistan Army.
During the meeting, Major General Bagheri said that Pakistan and Iran have adopted identical stances on many regional and international subjects, Iran’s Tasnim news agency reported.
Speaking to reporters upon his arrival in Islamabad on Sunday evening, the senior Iranian commander said Iran and Pakistan have much in common, Tasnim news agency reported.

Major General Baqeri said he is visiting Pakistan to deepen the military, security and economic cooperation between the two neighbours.
Heading a military delegation, he has travelled to Islamabad at the official invitation of Pakistan’s Army Chief General Syed Asim Munir, Tasnim news agency.
