ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar on Friday launched Prime Minister’s Mind Sports initiative for Schools in Islamabad.
The initiative aims to stimulate critical thinking and cognitive development amongst the children, Radio Pakistan reported. Initially 1000 schools will be equipped with chess boards and scrabble. Speaking on the occasion, the prime minister expressed strong determination to promote Mind Sports initiative and do advocacy for it. He stressed that every school in the country shall have access to Mind Sports.
The PM said that they are part of the international community and it needs greater cooperation and coordination. Sports is an important activity in fostering such cooperation, he added. Such activities lead people to discipline, making them good engineers, politicians, scientists, and bureaucrats, the PM remarked.

Pakistan: Kakar Launches PM’s Mind Sports Initiative for Schools
In his remarks on the occasion, Minister for Inter-Provincial Coordination Fawad Hasan Fawad said the initiative would be extended to all public sector schools in the country. He also invited private sector schools to equip themselves with Mind Sports, saying that they must achieve the target of equipping 100 schools with Mind Sports in the federal capital territory in the first month. The minister expressed confidence that this number would grow rapidly as the provinces also join it.
